MEDICAL SERVICES/STAFF CLINIC
The activities of the Clinic have gradually expanded beyond clinical healthcare services to include public health preventive/promotional programmes, health policy formulation as well as health administrative matters. The department is headed by a Director with the following sub-units;
Sub–Units of the Clinic
Registered to provide Primary and Secondary healthcare services to:
(i) MOD Staff and family members registered with the clinic under the NHIS.
(ii) MOD staff and family members not registered with the clinic under the NHIS Scheme (Welfare Scheme)
(iii) Military personnel with their family members (Welfare Scheme).
Also registered to provide Primary and Secondary Healthcare services to categories as outlined in (a) above. It also collaborates with the Defence Headquarters Medical Centre, Mogadishu Cantonment on HIV confirmatory tests, CD4 count and chemistry for HIV positive clients.
Public Health Out-Reach Programme
The committee established for this programme articulates out-reach programmes on Public Health issues of interest to staff. The committee conducted an Environmental Sanitation and Malaria Prevention programme with lectures, distribution of malarial drugs after testing with rapid malaria test kits, to military barracks in Keffi, Nasarawa state and Minna, Niger state January 2012.
Family Planning and Reproductive Health Programme
The committee for this programme carries out family planning counseling and provision of services to staff and their spouses, as well as enlightenment lectures on reproductive health issues.
Health Awareness/Education Programme
The committee saddled with this programme, articulates healthcare topics of interest to staff and organizes presentations at Town hall meetings of the staff with Top Management of the ministry.
X-ray and Ultrasound Units
X-ray and Ultrasound Units are functional in the clinic.
